The following update procedures are common to all Rhythmedics instruments and are provided here as a guide only. It is strongly recommended to download your instrument’s User Guide from the links above and follow the steps specific to your instrument.

You must use a Windows or Linux based computer to do updates other than patches (files with .RMC filename extension). If you have a Mac computer please go to this page for updates and instructions. PATCHES CAN BE APPLIED FROM MacOS COMPUTERS.

Rhythmedics files are not directly executable on your computer. They must be copied to your computer first then to the Rhythmedics flash-drive to work.

Rhythmedics program and data updates have a .RMD filename extension and critical updates have a .RMC filename extension. The first two numbers in the filename are the version and the next two letters are the instrument type.

Rhythmedics files are encrypted and may be keyed to only your instrument or may be generally applied if the last four digits are ‘9999’. Updates can only be applied to the specific instrument type for which it was developed. Patches and Critical Updates can be applied to any appropriate instrument.

1. Click on the desired update file link above and when prompted to OPEN or SAVE the file, select SAVE and specify a folder on your local computer, such as on your desktop, or Downloads folder. After saving the file, unzip the contents to access and save the update file with a ‘.RMD’ filename extension, or the patch file with a ‘.RMC’ filename extension.
2. Insert the USB cable Mini-B connector into the Rhythmedics instrument to be updated before inserting the other end into your computer. Firmly press and hold the SETUP switch while inserting the larger flat USB A connector end of the USB cable into a spare USB port directly on your computer. Do not connect through an external USB hub.
3. When the SLED in the instrument begins flashing Green on and off, or Red and Green, release the SETUP or START switch. If the SLED does not turn on, ensure the USB cable is properly inserted into your computer and the USB port is enabled on your computer via your device or driver manager program. If the SLED flashes Blue , remove the USB A connector from the computer and reinsert it while firmly pressing and holding the SETUP or START switches. If this is the first time you have connected this Rhythmedics flash-drive to this computer the SLED will flash red and green as the software driver is automatically installed. When the driver is installed the SLED will be flashing only green on and off. The first time you connect your instrument to your PC it may take several minutes before Windows completes the driver installation.
4. When the driver is installed you should receive a notification on your desktop of the new flash-drive. The instrument is now enumerated as a USB flash-drive named “Rhythmedics” and you should have an option on the screen to open the drive folder to view its contents. If not, then follow your computer’s procedures to view the contents of a removable media device.
5. Open the Rhythmedics Flash-drive folder to view its contents. You should see only one file named “NUTESLA.HTM” This file lists all installed preset programs. If you see any other files listed, select all files together, including NUTESLA.HTM and delete them all at the same time. The SLED should now be only flashing green on and off.
6. Open the folder where you previously saved the update file in Step 1 above and ‘drag-and-drop’ the saved and unzipped ‘.RMD’ or ‘.RMC’ file onto the Rhythmedics Flash-drive.
7. The Rhythmedics instrument will now process the update file automatically. During this process the SLED may briefly flash Red and Green, this is normal. The SLED will change to solid Green when done.
8. Your NuTesla Rhythmedics Instrument is now updated and ready to use once disconnected from the USB port. You can also press the SELECT switch to reset your Instrument and restart it.
9. If an error occurs during the update process the SLED will flash Red on and off and an ERROR.HTM file will be generated in the Rhythmedics flash-drive. Your instrument will still operate normally if an error occurs, but will not be updated. If this occurs, open the Rhythmedics flash-drive folder and copy the ERROR.HTM file to the original folder containing the update file for sending via email to support@NuTesla.com. Delete all the files at the same time from the Rhythmedics flash-drive and repeat steps 5 through 8 one more time. If the second attempt also fails, Notify NuTesla via email with the results including ERROR.HTM and the .RMD files.
